Are you certified in hair extensions?
You bet your bottom dollar! Over the years I have obtained several certifications on various methods. I have also completed four Masters programs with IBE and believe that continued education is essential for doing extensions!
How much hair will I need?
We want people to say, "Wow! Your hair looks great!" and not, "Wow! Your *hair extensions* look great!" So it is important that we match your natural density. If you have thick hair naturally, be prepared to need a lot of extension hair to match! For fine hair, it is best we don't overdo it to avoid looking artificial! For thickening I tend to use 60 grams (4 wefts if we are using wefts) and for thickness and length I use closer to 120 grams (8 wefts if we are using wefts)
How many rows will I need?
If you are looking for just thickness, one row. Two rows are able to give thickness and add length (the amount of length depends on your natural hair density).
How long does the extension hair last?
The longevity of well taken care of factory hair (wefts) is about 9 months. For blonde shades, it is closer to 6 months when you will feel the need to start replacing due to the extra processing they endure.
Keratin bonds made with virgin hair can last years.
Be sure to follow these home care guidelines for the best longevity! Keep in mind that as you wear your hair, it will thin out and shorten over time with natural shedding and trims. Unlike your hair, the extension hair will not replenish itself. You can expect your extensions to shrink by a couple of inches over it's lifespan. You can replace all of your hair at once, or break it up a little at a time.
Can you swim with extensions?
You can! But there are risks. Read this blog post on summer hair care and review the care guides Click Here!
Can the extension hair be colored?
Yes! They can be altered slightly with color. We can root them, tone them, and low-light them. However, lightening them is only recommended for raw Slavic hair (keratin bonds). If you want to change up your hair color with beaded rows, we can simply add in a few wefts of new hair to mix the old with the new if it is a subtle change. Although, if you are wanting a big change, we will need to get new hair.
Who is a good candidate for Invisible Bead Extensions?
The ideal client has medium density hair that is below their shoulders without any short layers or strong blunt edges. Fill out this form and I will email you with my thoughts on whether or not this method is for you!
Why IBE over all of the other beaded row methods?
This particular beaded row method is fast, mess-free, comfortable, and is the safest on the hair and scalp. No more dealing with slipping tape and messy removals. Even more info
Are they hard to take care of?
Not at all! There are a couple of golden rules to follow, like using the right products, brushing frequently, and wearing a braid to bed. Click here for a complete care guide! I also have some how-to videos on my IG! I do like to ask you if you are comfortable taking care of your own hair already. If you struggle to style your hair as it is, extensions would probably be difficult for you.
Do you have hair in stock or do you order for each person?
I personally stock the most popular lengths and colors! There are so many benefits to seeing a stylist that has hair on hand. While there is always a chance we may need to special order something for unique circumstances, most of the time we don't have to. This means you don't have to wait when you are ready for new hair. Or if you are feeling like changing it up that day, we can add a few pieces of a new color in. Sometimes if wefts become damaged and we need to replace them, we are able to do so right away. This also ensures we have the perfect blend of colors every time without having to guess from a swatch and hoping what we order works out.
What is the maintenance like?
For beaded rows, I prefer our first move-up appointment at 6 weeks to make sure everything has held up well. Future maintenance may be moved to 7, 8, or even 9+ weeks depending on your unique situation.
Keratin bonds can live longer in the hair. You can expect to maintain them quarterly!
